TeenNick do-gooders, get ready to be inspired! Abbi Hickman is the 12-year-old founder of Pins for Pets, a non-profit organization that has made a huge difference in her community. Plus, it combines two of Abbi's greatest loves: animals and bowling! Here's the story:
It all started when Abbi visited her local animal shelter in her hometown of Tracy California. She was so disheartened by the conditions (the shelter was located right by a sewer), she decided to make a change.
Abbi began organizing bowling tournaments to raise money for the Tracy Animal Shelter. The events, which include games, raffles and food and supply donations, are fun for everyone. As Abbi said, "Bowling is a great sport, it doesn't discriminate . All ages can participate." And participate people did! In the three years that Pins for Pets has been active, she's raised over $30,000 total.
Pins for Pets has been such a success that the Tracy Animal Shelter has since relocated to a new, better place. Reflecting on this huge achievement, Abbi said, "It made me feel that all my hard work was paying off. The old shelter and the new shelter don't even compare."
Abbi, congratulations on all your hard work. To all of you out there thinking about how you can make a difference, hear what Abbi has to say: "Nothing is impossible. You need to believe in your cause and yourself. If you have passion for your cause nothing can stop you. Everyone can make a difference!"
And that's what the HALO Effect is all about. To learn about Abbi and her awesome work, check out this video below!

Our minds are exploding, our hearts are shattering from utter happiness, and we're also kinda thirsty from this whole ordeal. Please prepare yourself for this emotional roller coaster ride...
First, the insane levels of excitement might make you pretty thirsty.
We love orange soda, Kel.

He's baaaaack. He's on Nickelodeon's new show called Game Shakers. And he's still on that orange soda grind.
After hearing the news, you'll probably need a moment to boogie down.
And shake what your momma gave you.
Just be sure to gather a tiny bit of composure by Saturday, Sept 12 at 8pm. Cause, y'know, Game Shakers airs that night.
Excuse us while we wait for Kel to reek undeniable funny havoc. Until then, please enjoy his super chill presence.

The lazy days of summer chillin' by the pool may have come to an end *sigh*. While September does mean that it's time to go back to school, it's also the very best time to start doing YOU.
SO, if you're wondering how you'll possibly be able to balance school, extracurricular activities, and a personal life this year, you can derive inspiration from some of your good ol' Nickelodeon pals.
Don't let bullies get you down
There will always be those kids in school who will try to mess with your vibes. Keep your game face strong and don't let 'em get you down. You keeping your cool = You win. Simple equation. Side note: Take note from Clarissa, who calmly defends her little bro against his bully. After all, only she can call her bro Ferg-Face.
Leave the drama for the stage
Seriously, any friend/parent/teacher drama is so not worth it. It's distracting and frankly very stressful to let it get in the way of your happiness. Definitely channel the dramatics for the theatre or the football field.
Do your homework
You get ready to study, but then you watch this hilarious video of a cat making friends with a hamster, and then end up spiraling into that black hole called the Internet. Try to get rid of distractions by finding a quiet place where you can disconnect, and just FOCUS.
Let Arnold's super sweet, ambient pad serve as inspiration for creating your own academic sanctuary.
Be nice to the new kid
The new kid in school may look a tad younger, be slightly lost in the halls, or may even smell a bit like baby diapers. Regardless, try introducing yourself and take this new cat under your wing. Because school karma is cool karma.
Shoot for the stars
Our favorite football head, Arnold said it best when he helped fellow classmate, Torvald, pass a super hard math test: "Now he knows that he has the power inside himself to succeed no matter what he tries." You go, Torvald!
Embrace your unique self
Sometimes, you might feel the inexplicable desire to be the girl in the pink capris.
Talking about you, Courtney Gripling.
When it comes down to it, embracing your individuality is what counts. Don't worry about following the wolfpack, just let your inner little seal girl shine bright.
Oh, and whenever you feel lost, it always helps reach out to an older wise sage. Like, seriously. It really, REALLY helps.

We all love a good party anthem, there's no doubt about that. But have you ever been in a social situation where you're just like, "Ugh. This is weird. This is awkward. GTG ASAP."
Yeah. Us, too.
For all those times you've wondered, "What if I don't want to be the life of the party tonight? Is that cool?" Yes. It totally is. And 19 year-old Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara will be the first to tell you that.
If you haven't heard Alessia's new single "Here", check it out (~here~ lol). It's an anthem for the introvert, an ode to all those people who'd rather be kickin' it with their friends and talking about their big dreams than rolling deep to a party.
Can you dig? We can.
This star-on-the-rise is poised for really big things. Alessia is a teen with a huge voice (seriously, her pipes are unreal) and an even bigger message. And we are so stoked because she is stopping by TeenNick Top 10 TONIGHT at 9pm to chat about her new music! You don't want to miss it!
In the meantime, take a moment to appreciate the epic realness of this Instagram:
9pm. Tonight. See you then!

Bailey Walter is the 14 year-old and founder of Let Them Dance, an initiative to increase awareness about a little known, but devastating disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
It all began when Bailey's best friend was put in a wheel chair because of SMA syndrome. And with their 4th grade dance around the corner, Bailey knew she didn't want to go without him. Hoping to one day find a way for him to dance again, she became passionate about finding a cure for SMA.
If you've never heard of SMA, here's one thing everyone should know, according to Bailey: "The main thing that everyone needs to know about Spinal Muscular Atrophy is that most children die before the age of two. It effects not only their muscles for walking, but also for breathing and eating. There are some that live long lives, but don't walk. Some may always require assistance for daily living." At just 10 years old, Bailey approached her city's Mayor with the hopes of creating a day dedicated to SMA Awareness. "I had never done anything like this before," she says, "so I was very nervous reading my speech." But overcome her fears she did, and she got the mayor to agree.
Even though she's showed incredible courage, Bailey says that one of the biggest hurdles she's had to jump is definitely her young age. "When I was 10 no one took me seriously at first. It took a lot of pleading and doing a lot of research on SMA so I could prove my case." Since then, Bailey has set up a successful bracelet business, from which all proceeds are given to the Western New York chapter of Cure SMA. In addition, Bailey says, "I showed that I could contact businesses by phone, mail or in person to help get contributions for the annual walk. [Every year Cure SMA holds a walk to raise fund and awareness for the disease]... The hardest part was convincing people we were serious, but we stood our ground and proved we were."
Approaching the five year anniversary of Let Them Dance, Bailey has many ideas to expand her organization, including an initiative to make blankets and pillows for newly diagnosed children. "I am hoping that by the time it turns ten, the cure will be found. If not it just means that I need to work that much harder to help these kids and Let Them Dance!"

Picture this: You didn't study for your math test and you're already anticipating the consequences. A less-than-stellar grade will most likely result in a stern talking-to from the 'rents and you'll think to yourself... "I have got to keep those YouTube benders in check." The struggle is real, we get it.
But for TeenNick Top 10 Fresh Artist Kaya Stewart, that wasn't exactly the case.
By now, you've probably heard Kaya's stomping hit single "In Love With A Boy." What you maybe don't know is that she wrote that song on the back of a math test she knew she wasn't going to ace. And according to Billboard, the very boy in the song was in her middle school math class!
Now, we can't promise you'll be able to make beautiful music out of questionable study skills, but we can promise you a super-exciting appearance from Kaya Stewart on TeenNick Top 10 TONIGHT! You'll hear more about her upcoming music and you also get to check out her killer combat boots. Boom. You're welcome.
9PM is where it's at, y'all!

Chances are, you've heard the super-sweet and totally infectious country stylings of our TeenNick Top 10 Fresh Artist, Kelsea Ballerini. Her hit "Love Me Like You Mean It" has already topped Billboard's country airplay songs charts, and her new single "Dibs" is taking over country radio as we speak. If you haven't heard these tunes, be warned, they WILL get stuck in your head.
To celebrate Kelsea's place on our impressive Fresh Artist roster (hello, alumns include 5 Seconds of Summer, Fifth Harmony and Shawn Mendes) and our general obsession with her, we rounded up 5 reasons we want to be her BFF, like, yesterday.
1. Her idea of a good time = good food + good people. I mean, where do we sign up?
Sat on my apartment floor eating pizza and giggling the night away with my favorite people tonight. Happiest heart.— Kelsea Ballerini (@KelseaBallerini) August 12, 2015
2. Her dog, Josh (named after country singer Josh Turner), will paralyze you with his cuteness. HE'S SO FLUFFY.
3. She freaks out just as much as we do when it comes to Nick Jonas.
4. She worked really hard to get where she is today and she didn't give up even when she hit a few roadblocks. If you're interested in stars' path to success, check out this awesome video in which Kelsea talks about her journey.
5. This is how she celebrated her first #1. We didn't think it was possible to love Kelsea more, but this girl is going to do big things.
yesterday I got to celebrate my first #1 with the people that made it happen. I talked about how as dreamers we spend so much of our lives looking forward to the goals we've set for ourselves, but that in that moment I started looking back...to the times I sat in big offices starry eyed at 14 and was told I should move to Nashville, to the people I met, the places I've played, and the sometimes dull stars that aligned and burned bright and made this milestone happen. It's such a journey. And while I'm looking forward to so much, looking back has never looked so beautiful. Love you. Mean it. #uglycry
Catch Kelsea on TeenNickTop 10 TONIGHT at 9pm!
