  • Degrassi Recap: 'Army of Me'

    Posted on 04/02/2014 by TeenNickBlogger

Hey, Degrassians! Did you catch last night's new episode? Between an act of domestic terrorism, a tough (but cute) new teacher, and an ongoing game of "He loves me, he loves me not," these kids better see all the drama a-brewin' before things get out of control! If you haven't seen "Army of Me," watch it online and then read our recap below!

    THE SCIENCE OF FAIR

It was finally time for Alli to present her project at the science fair. She was so excited because she and Dallas had been working tirelessly for weeks, and only few loose ends stood between her and total science domination. But when Dallas and Alli went to the mall to pick up her posters, a frightening incident shook things up. Literally.

Someone set off a homemade dry ice bomb in the middle of the food court and forced everyone to duck and cover under tables. No one was hurt, but when the police cleared out the room, they asked Dallas to stay behind for questioning.

And before long, he realized that both he and Connor were being profiled as suspects because of their race.

After waiting for a long time, disgruntled and upset, Dallas and Connor were finally released. Unfortunately, the bus to the fair had already left without them. They had to figure out a way to meet Alli and Jenna at the fair, and thankfully, Principal Simpson let Connor borrow his car so they could make it in time. (It pays having the principal be your legal guardian!) Keys in hand, Dallas and Connor hit the road.

But while they were on their way, the boys got pulled over by two cops. And since Dallas was positive he wasn't speeding, he asked the officer why he was stopped. The officer scornfully replied, "Your exhaust is very loud." Dallas knew this wasn't a legitimate violation, and when the officers questioned the boys' permission to use the car, he was sure they were being persecuted. Because of their race.

Do you think will Dallas' anger inspire him to make a stand in a constructive way? Or will it lead to even more trouble?

    WAXING POETIC

There's a new teacher at Degrassi, and his name is Mr. Grant Yeats. He stands on desks, prefers that students and teachers "teach each other," and has this super-secret-invite-only play-writing collective (because multi-hyphenates = prestigious, obviously).

Tristan really wanted to get into Mr. Yeats' play-writing collective to keep his mind off of how things weren't going so great at home. But when Zoe got her invitation to the collective, Tristan was confused about how and why his invitation was, er, lost in the mail?

Well, turns out, Mr. Yeats didn't think Tristan's work was deserving of admittance into the collective.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

Determined to get a spot in the super-secret society, Tristan followed the group to their meeting place… in the middle of the woods. But as he spied on them behind a tree, Mr. Yeats noticed him. (Let's be real, when you swat a fly like a kung fu warrior, you're bound to get noticed.)

    Degrassi: Close To Me

At first Mr. Yeats was a little confused, and suggested that Tristan's boldness might not have been in the best taste. But after the meeting was dismissed, he told Tristan individually that he admired his determination. And even said that he could foresee Tristan being his favorite student.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

    Hmm…

    NOT HIS TYPE?

After Becky called Clare and Drew "work spouses" (y'know, because they finish each other's sentences, know the intimate details of each other's candy intolerance, and basically are in LURVE), Clare became worried that everyone at school thought she and Drew were dating. And since they kissed that one time (oh, riggghhtttt), Clare decided that it would probably be better to have no suspicions floating around. So, she set out on a mission to find Drew a girlfriend.

She created an online dating profile for Drew, and it didn't take much time for her inbox to be flooded with responses. Clare thought she was being sneaky, but Imogen sensed her ulterior motives for playing matchmaker: "You're trying to avoid your feelings for Drew," she said.

    Busted.

But when Clare asked Imogen to keep her "stupid crush" on the down low (HEY, ELI), Imogen tried to ease her fears by saying that Drew wouldn't actually date her, anyway. She wasn't his type.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

    Wait, what?

To see if Imogen's hunch was true, Clare made a fake profile for a made-up girl named Annabella. And this girl was basically Clare—she had all the same interests and attributes, just without the picture.

However, when she gave Drew his options, he chose another girl named Eden based on her looks. Was Clare a little bummed? We think so.

Will Clare finally face her feelings and tell Drew the real identity of Annabella? Will Tristan and Mr. Yeats form a bond? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

  • Melinda's Journey To KCA: One Day to Go!

    Melinda's Journey to KCA

A sneak peek of Melinda's KCA Orange Carpet look!

The Kids' Choice Awards are only a day away and I'm so excited! If you've ever wondered what it's like to get ready for a big event, I'm giving you an inside look into the routine that I'll be following for the big day! But you don't need an Orange Carpet to use these tips in your own life. Follow some of my tried and true tricks for your next big event (hello, prom and graduation!).

Before a big event I make sure that:

    • I get my nails done. I usually attempt to coordinate my outfits and my nails, a nude colour is always a safe go-to. For this year's KCA, I got some amazing nail art done! It took three hours (and no wonder, because they are all bejeweled), but it was totally worth it! I've never seen such intricate nail design.

    • Melinda's Journey to KCA

    • I have my eyebrows waxed a couple of days before the event just in case there is any redness or swelling. It's also important to not wear makeup right after waxing because your pores are open and they can get clogged by the makeup!

    • I avoid makeup for the day prior, if possible, to let my skin breathe. Since I have to wear makeup everyday on the Degrassi set, it's great to give my skin a break. On a day like the Kids' Choice Awards, where there are constant stage makeup and touch-ups for the photo-ops and Orange Carpet, it's good to prepare myself!

    • I moisturize my skin as much as possible. I have dry skin and being in a studio all day filming doesn't help. Depending on what kind of skin you have, it's important to compensate with lots of moisture treatments!

    • I drink A LOT of water! Did you know that only three percent of the water you drink goes to the maintenance of your skin? The rest is for your body. Extra hydration is key to looking fresh on the carpet. It truly is nature's best remedy.

    • And finally, I get a good night's sleep! Nothing kills a fun event more than exhaustion! The days are long and you want to be on your game, so having a well-rested and sharp mind is so important!

But above all, I try to remember that with events like these, the anticipation is everything and then it's over before you know it! Don't forget to enjoy it—these big moments in your life are special for a reason and you have to savor every second. Sure, the dress, the hair and the makeup are all part of the fun, but it's the memories you make that stay with you forever!

  • Degrassi Recap: 'Close to Me'

    Posted on 03/26/2014 by TeenNickBlogger

Valentine's Day may have been a month ago, but this week at Degrassi was all about sweethearts and love triangles! And chalk it up to pre-dance jitters, but a few things went down last night. If you haven't seen "Close to Me" yet, make sure to watch it online before reading our recap because, you know, spoilers.

    SNAP OUT OF IT

The incarnation of Connor 2.0 made quite the impression at Degrassi and the lovable-nerd-turned-total-hunk started to get a lot of attention: Grade Nine girls were suddenly in dire need of biology tutoring, and Jenna, sensing some ulterior motives, didn't feel too great about how in-demand her boyfriend had become. With the semi-formal coming up, she felt like she had to pull out all the stops, "wow" Connor with a stunner dress, and bury those creeping jealous feelings!

But when it came time to get ready for the dance, Jenna found herself not loving any of her outfit choices (been there!) and she started to get frustrated. She knew that if she wanted to show up the younger girls, her dress had to be perfect.

A few dozen outfit changes later, Jenna arrived at the gymnasium in her chosen frock that, well, turned a few heads. And despite the fact that Alli thought her dress selection was a bit bold, Connor, being the adoring boyfriend that he is, said she looked great. He gave her the reaction she was looking for, and she was happy.

Later on, Dallas and Alli announced that Connor and Jenna won King and Queen—everything was going as planned! They took the stage to retrieve their crown, and Jenna was all, "You can call me Queen Bee." But just as she addressed her adoring subjects, Connor took her hand, raised it in a triumphant "BOO YAH!" and caused her dress strap to snap right off.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

Mortified, Jenna quickly ran off stage.

As much as we wish Jenna could just rewind a few hours, let's face it, we've all been there before. Sometimes a fashion risk turns out to be a mistake, and you suffer through the embarrassment.

But as Connor walked into the bathroom to comfort Jenna, he made it clear he didn't care about those Niners, anyway: "They only like me now that I'm conventionally dressed," he said. "You liked me before then." Jenna was so caught up in creating the right image that she forgot why her relationship with Connor was so strong in the first place!

Plus, he didn't love any of those other girls.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

And that's the way the #Jonnor cookie crumbles, my friends.

    GIRL FRIENDS, NOT GIRLFRIENDS

Last week, Becky accidentally asked Imogen to the Sweetheart Semi-Formal, as her date. And even though she did want to go to the dance with Imogen all along, she wasn't really sure whether or not she like liked her.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

Jack, on the other hand, totally had a thing for Imogen. And when she told Becky that she wanted to ask Imogen to the semi-formal, Becky wasn't about to let the new girl threaten her friendship.

…But was she getting in too deep?

At the dance, Becky and Imogen danced their tushes off, and seemed to be having a great time. But when the slow dance music forced everyone to couple off, they had to figure out what in the world was going on between them. After about a millisecond, she realized:

    Degrassi: Close To Me

Becky admitted that she wasn't actually gay. She told Imogen that she just didn't want to lose her first best friend. And Imogen was so relieved, too, because Becky was her first best friend who wasn't her girlfriend.

After they officially solidified their BFF (not GF) status, Becky realized that she needed to make things right with Jack. She told Jack about the mix-up and encouraged her to ask Imogen to dance. Now the question is, could there be another budding romance in the works?

    I TOLD YOU I'D WAIT

Since Zig moved in with Maya, things got a little tense between Maya and her boyfriend, Miles. Miles didn't totally trust Zig's motives, and sure as heck didn't want Maya in close quarters with him. But Maya, hoping that everyone would just put a little kumbaya in their hearts, had a plan to ease the tension: She thought that if everybody hung out together at the dance, maybe Miles and Zig could get along!

But Maya soon realized that her friends (Tristan, Zoe, Grace, and Tiny, to be exact) thought it was a useless idea to try to make BFF out of two hotheaded boys who clearly had feelings for her. And even though Maya didn't want to give up, Zig put his foot down and said that it wasn't his responsibility to fix her problems with Miles. He didn't want anything to do with the dance.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

Back at Matlin household, Maya confronted Zig right before the dance. She told him she was really upset that he was "such a jerk" about the whole situation, and even though Zig scoffed it off, you could tell that he cared.

    Degrassi: Close To Me

    Oh, he cared.

Zig eventually showed up to the dance, and much to Maya's surprise, chatted with Miles by the punch table. They started talking man-to-man and everything was going fine until Zig, well, said some stuff that didn't exactly sit well with Miles. He talked about living with Maya and provokingly joked, "It's gonna be kinda hard to be just friends when you're sleeping down the hall."

Yikes, you could practically see the steam coming out of Miles' ears.

In fact, Miles was so mad, he tried to get Zig out of the picture for good. He went to Mr. Perino and got two cops to accuse Zig of hiding drugs in his locker. They whisked Zig away to investigate, and Maya stood there, dumbfounded and shocked. Miles insisted that he just did it to protect her, but Maya couldn't believe Miles would do such a spiteful thing. Holding back tears, she told him, "I need some time to think."

    Ugh.

Back at home, Maya waited to for Zig to see what happened with Perino. Turns out, there were no drugs in his locker, and Miles had just thrown him under the bus. But when Maya tried to explain that Miles wasn't a bad guy and couldn't understand why he'd so something like this, Zig said he had an idea. And it went back to a promise he made Maya months ago.

"Remember when I told you I'd wait for you?"

    Degrassi: Close To Me

Well, what say you, Degrassians? Will Zig test #Matlingsworth's fate? Is Imogen on her way to a new relationship? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

  • Melinda's Journey To KCA: 4 Days to Go!

Posted on 03/25/2014 by Melinda Shankar

Melinda's Beauty Blog: Essentials For Spring

Melinda Shankar is no stranger to the Orange Carpet!

Hey there, TeenNick fans! The countdown to KCA has officially begun! In case you haven't heard, I am going to be walking the Orange Carpet this year and I'm taking you along for the journey! I just had a fitting for my KCA dress last week, and I've narrowed down my options to two -- prepping for the big day is half the fun! Do you have a big event coming up? Here are some tips and tricks that you can apply to any big day like prom or graduation!

Sometimes, picking the "perfect" outfit can be the most stressful part of our day. The fear of over or under dressing for the occasion, hoping to not wear the same style as your GF, etc., is enough to drive us crazy. The trick to creating a head-turning outfit is to cater to your own personal appearance. Personal style means wearing whatever you want, and it often reflects your personality and helps create a first impression. Just because trends are "in" doesn't mean you have to attempt to rock them. Take your body type, style, and the occasion into consideration, and use your judgment to pick an #OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) that makes you feel beautiful and confident! After all, once you commit and leave the house, there's no turning back. You can delete the photo proof of an outfit fumble, but you can't delete the memories!

You might start with a dress or blouse, but shoes can make or break an outfit. Dressing up a casual outfit with some bold shoes is always a great option for jazzing up a regular #OOTD to be photo-op-worthy! Generally, if an outfit is more fashion-forward or "out there", however, neutral heels help keep the focus on the dress or ensemble. This rule applies to clutches, purses and jewelry, as well!

Want to hit up the salon before your big day? If you're planning a new hair style or cut, try it before hand to make sure it's exactly like you pictured. I suggest getting a haircut at least four days before the event to give it time to settle in and, of course, time for you to get used to it. A great outfit/look takes a lot of thought and preparation, but once you've put all the pieces together, you'll be so glad you did! #FashionistaFact

Can't wait to see you all at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday at 8pm ETon Nickelodeon!

Melinda's Beauty Blog: Essentials For Spring

FAN QUESTION: What is the best way to prepare for spring?

In my opinion, the best way to prepare for spring is to be equipped with the essentials at all times!

    1. A light jacket or cardigan: I know we're all eager to ditch the winter gear but there's nothing worse than ruining a cute outfit because you had to borrow your guy friend's jacket so you don't freeze to death.

    2. Footwear: Rain boots, platform heel, or boots are a safe bet considering the inconsistent weather. Try to avoid stick heels until the ground is no longer mushy. We all want to show off our Christmas gift pumps (guilty), but you'll be regretting your decision once they're damaged!

    3. Fashion accessory: Ever since I was a little girl, I make myself follow this fashion rule: No matter how casual or how fancy your outfit is, have one distinct "wow" factor piece. It doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive and can be as simple as scarves, rings, or a belt, but you'll be glad you did when you run into your crush after school!

    4. Hair elastic: Sounds like an obvious one, but with these winter winds still holding on, you never know when you'll have to throw your hair up. Battling with your locks in public Medusa-style, isn't a cute look.

    5. Last but not least, always carry a bold colour lipstick and mascara with you. It's an instant high fashion look in under three minutes for when you have a last-minute hangout. Brighten up your eyes and pucker up, spring is when our social lives pick up a little more as we can now bear the outdoors. Always be prepared!

  • Degrassi Recap: 'What It's Like'

    Posted on 03/19/2014 by TeenNickBlogger

Hey, Degrassians! Did you catch last night's all-new episode? The guys and gals readied themselves for the Sweethearts Semiformal, and, well, you know what happens whenever a Degrassi dance comes around… There's never a shortage of drama school spirit! If you missed last night's episode, catch the full video online before reading our recap!

I SUPPOSE WE COULD GIVE IT A TRY
    Degrassi: What It's Like

Since spending more time together on Degrassi TV, Becky and Imogen started to get really close. And we've all been pretty stoked that both Becky and Imogen finally found a friend in each other! But when a new girl, Jack, started at Degrassi, things began to change.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

Jack and Imogen totally hit it off. It was pretty clear that they were, y'know, kindred spirits: They liked the same things, they had a similar sense of humor, they got each other. But their mutual love for Radiohead, high art culture, and macchiatos sorta put Becky on the outskirts of their conversation.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

And there was one more thing: Jack like likes girls.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

Feeling left out and afraid of losing Imogen before she even got a chance to get close with her, Becky decided that she had to do something major to lock in their BFF-ship. So, she asked Imogen to go with her to the Sweethearts Semiformal. As her date.

    #Bekogen?

    ROYAL TREATMENT
    Degrassi: What It's Like

So, Jenna had this sorta silly notion that everyone at school thinks she and Connor are a "weird couple." And even though we think they're just fab, she was determined to prove that they're a little less random and a little more royal. With the Sweethearts Semiformal coming up, Jenna nominated them for king and queen, but Jenna had a hypothesis: If Connor changed his appearance, they would increase their chances of winning.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

Connor was skeptical at first, but she convinced him that the campaign was merely an experiment. So he agreed to swap his glasses for contacts, and his polo for pleather. But as the changes got a little more intense, Connor became skeptical of Jenna's motives. Why did she want him to change so much, so suddenly? She fessed up about her insecurities, and he said something really poignant: "I don't think the problem is other people. I think it's you."

Eventually, Jenna apologized to Connor for trying to make him change his looks for a competition. But it turns out, a good relationship is all about compromise. Yep, Connor knew this to be scientific fact, so he went through with the makeover.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

As he turned around all shiny and new, Jenna basically had cartoon wolf eyes O_O coming out of her sockets! (And we don't blame her! The good sir looked fiiine!) It appeared that they were ready for their king and queen nominee photos, watching the throne like Jay and 'Ye.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

But then Jenna realized something… She wasn't the only one who liked Connor's new and improved image. Uh oh.

    YOU HAVE NO IDEA
    Degrassi: What It's Like

When Maya couldn't find her laptop in her backpack, she suspected Zig of stealing it. She swiftly put on her best Sherlock cap (metaphorically, of course) and followed him from the school parking lot to see if he really swiped her computer.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

As she stealthily watch Zig approach an abandoned house, she saw him jigger open a window and climb in. Confused, and frankly worried, Maya decided she had to investigate.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

When she knocked on the door, Zig answered upset and flustered. "How did you find me here?" he said. "You need to go." Maya knew something was up, and realized it wasn't really about the laptop anymore. It was about Zig, living alone, squatting in an uninhabited house… and how it maybe, might have broken her heart to witness it.

She started to feel really guilty about Zig's situation and told Miles, Tristan, and Zoe that she worried she might have been part of the reason he was in such a tough place. After all, she did blow him off last summer. Unsurprisingly, Zoe had a thing or two to say about it…

    Degrassi: What It's Like

But Maya still felt responsible for helping him. Miles, however, was confused about why Maya suddenly had such an interest in Zig's well-being. He made it clear that he thought Zig was bad news, and that his personal life wasn't her problem.

    Degrassi: What It's Like
Hm… we guess his suspicions aren't totally off-base, but let's be real for a second: We know Miles is aware of Maya's history with Zig. Could he be skeptical because he was, well, jealous?

Without much encouragement from her friends, Maya sought advice from Ms. Grell. After explaining that Zig was, er, hanging his hat on plywood, Ms. Grell assured Maya that she'd take care of the situation.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

But Maya quickly learned that no good deed goes unpunished, as Zig stormed out of school, livid at Maya for not minding her own business. Turns out, Zig's parents kicked him out of their home, and since he had nowhere else to go, he would probably have to go to a group home.

Maya talked to her mom about the predicament. She was determined to make things right with Zig, and so they decided to offer him a place to stay in their extra room. Then, when Maya told Zig that he'd have a temporary home, his reaction was…

    Degrassi: What It's Like

    Impactful.

    Degrassi: What It's Like

And so, Maya and Zig became housemates! But um, *raises hand* something tells us this situation is going to be more complicated than who's hogging the bathroom. Maya surely did the right thing by helping a friend in need and mending a wounded friendship, but are they really just friends?

What did you think about this week's episode? Sound off in the comments, Degrassians!

  • Degrassi 101: Catch Up On Season 13!

    Posted on 03/14/2014 by Rachel1016

Hey, new Degrassians on the block! Looking for a crash course in all the Degrassi drama? It's time to get up to speed on the BFFs, 'ships, and feuds that are dominating the hallways. We've also got some fresh episodes coming up, so here's everything you need to know about Season 13 (and MORE)!

    Degrassi 101

Drew is Degrassi's class president, and he's kind of a screw-up, but most of the time tries to do the right thing.

    Degrassi 101

He's also super close with his VP Clare, who's dating Eli. But ever since Eli went off to college, their relationship has gotten kinda rocky.

    Degrassi 101

Eli and Clare went on a break, and Clare kissed Drew. Even though she's back with Eli, she pretty much has secret feelings for Drew now.

    Degrassi 101

    Uh oh.

    Degrassi 101

Alli is BFF with Clare and Jenna. She's a science genius and her lab partner is Dallas, who is a total jock and BMOC (Big Man On Campus).

    Degrassi 101

But he's also crushing on Alli. Hard. She really likes him as a friend, but she's not sure about taking the next step.

    Degrassi 101

    Degrassi 101

Jenna is dating Connor. And they're a super-cute couple, but sometimes, Connor can be a little socially awkward.

    Degrassi 101

And then there's Maya. She's in Grade 10. And she's dating Miles, who's kind of a bad boy, but they really like each other.

    Degrassi 101

Actually, they love each other. Like, they officially said the L-word, so you know it's serious.

    Degrassi 101

Miles also used to date Zoe, who's a former TV star. She and Maya have never really gotten along, but they sorta made up because they're both BFFs with Tristan, who has the best one-liners.

    Degrassi 101

    Degrassi 101

Maya was put in the Remedial Room with this guy, Zig. He used to be in love with her, but now he's kinda shady and mean to her.

Melinda's Beauty Blog: Makeup Quick Fix

You know and love Melinda Shankar as Alli Bhandari on Degrassi, but if you've followed her outside of the show, you've probably noticed she has a knack for style and beauty. We are so excited because Melinda has offered to share her image expertise with us in a brand-new beauty blog! Over the next few weeks, Melinda will periodically pop in to answer questions you sent us via Facebook and Twitter about hair, makeup, skincare and everything in between. She's taking to the blog to share all of her secrets, so stay tuned!

FAN QUESTION: What is a common makeup, skincare, or hair mistake that you see teens often make but can be easily fixed?

Mistakes and trial and error are all part of what makes us human, we just have to acknowledge and learn from them. A makeup error I often see is mismatched foundation. It's especially obvious when there is a sharp difference in colour of the face and neck (blending is key!). If you're unsure if the colour is your match, take it to a makeup or drug store where a specialist can help you! With the weather changing, our skin colour often changes, too. Having 3 shades of face powder (one shade lighter, colour match, and one shade darker) can help you adjust the foundation without having to buy a new one, unless it's a big difference, of course!

A common skincare mistake I see is people touching their face or skin without washing their hands. Bacteria accumulates like crazy, and just because we can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there! Touching your face will spread those germs into your pours, making room for acne and skin problems that could otherwise easily be avoided!

A hair error I often see is girls straightening their hair too straight. Unless you have very curly hair, I recommend straightening from the crown of your head rather than at the root. By doing this you won't lose the natural volume that your hair already has. In addition to that, there are powders, sprays and shampoos to add extra volume in the event that straightening hair makes your locks look thinned out!

Hailing from Canada's capital, Ottawa, Melinda Shankar joined the cast ofDegrassiin its eighth season as Sav Bhandari's little sister, Alli. Prior to this, she did runway and print modeling. Melinda's passion for beauty has led her to a new position as CEO of Miss Conception image consulting.

  • Degrassi Recap: 'Unbelievable Parts 1 + 2'

    Posted on 03/12/2014 by TeenNickBlogger

Degrassians, thank you for joining us last night for a truly heart-wrenching and pivotal episode. There is much to discuss and reflect upon, and we're here to break it down with you. As always, if you haven't seen "Unbelievable" Parts 1 & 2, watch the hour-long episode right here before reading our recap.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

The episode began with Zoe waking up in Miles' pool house the morning after his outrageous party, with little recollection of what happened. When Miles' little sister Frankie woke her up, she showed her a series of compromising photos that ended up online. Although Zoe seemed confident that the photos were only a blip on the radar (nothing that couldn't be erased by a stellar performance at the Degrassi Sing Off), this was only the beginning.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

As the photos began to spread around the school, Becky pitched a story to Degrassi TV about the dangers of underage drinking. At first, she was determined to prove herself a serious journalist by getting to the bottom of what really happened at Miles' party. But when an anonymous person using the pseudonym "The Watcher" posted a video of Zoe, drunk on the floor in nothing but her bikini, Becky realized that there was more to the story. In the video, it appeared that two boys tried to jokingly harass Zoe as she lay near-unconscious. Becky realized that the real message here wasn't just about holding teens accountable for their actions under the influence. It was about how no one, under any circumstances, should be taken advantage of.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

Becky, Drew and Imogen sifted through the photo evidence from the party, and were determined to figure out who took the video. They couldn't seem to get a lead on anybody until The Watcher posted another anonymous video containing security camera footage of Miles and Winston carrying Zoe into the pool house. Now, it appeared that the two boys were lead suspects.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

Later on, at the Degrassi Sing Off, Zoe, Frankie and Keisha took the stage. In the middle of their performance, however, Zoe started having flashbacks to the party and became distraught by the fear of what may or may not have happened to her in the pool house. She quickly ran off stage and went to the doctor to get some answers. There, she learned that she was sexually assaulted.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

Becky noticed as Zoe became increasingly tormented by the incident, and she realized that she couldn't keep the story to herself any longer. Becky informed Principal Simpson of her suspicions about Miles and Winston, and he immediately decided to involve the police. When the police questioned the boys, however, Winston was able to pull up a time code in the security footage to prove that it wasn't them in the assault video. So, if it wasn't Miles and Chuey, who was it?

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

Eventually, Grace came forward as The Watcher and told Becky, Imogen, and Drew that she wanted to help them figure out who was in the video. They determined that Becky's brother Luke and his friend (who, incidentally, was the same guy that tried to put his hands on Maya in 'Barely Breathing') were involved. And even though Becky didn't want to believe that her brother could be capable of such a disgusting act, she found the assault video on his phone. Luke Baker was Zoe's attacker. And Becky was dazed and devastated.

Zoe meanwhile learned that the pep rally for the basketball team was cancelled because of the accusations. Zoe didn't make the claims (she had, in fact, kept pretty quiet about the whole thing), but angry students started spreading nasty rumors that Zoe wasn't actually assaulted. They said that she willingly had sex with the two boys in the video, regretted it, and then decided to tell the police that she was violated. It's important to understand that Zoe was not only being ostracized by her peers for the events that took place, but they were now falsely accusing her of making the whole thing up. And despite her reputation for getting entangled in controversy, Zoe was the victim here. The victim who was being portrayed as the villain.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

After it came to light that Luke was in the video, he approached Zoe to ask her to drop the accusations and "just forget everything." He even dared to suggest that no one would believe her side of the story anyway: "I'm a good Christian guy, I'm a hockey star," he said. But right before the basketball game, Zoe saw Luke carelessly flirting in the background, she charged toward him. She mustered enough infuriated strength to announce in front of everyone that he was other person in the video. He sexually assaulted her. And before he could try to defend himself, Becky jumped in and confirmed that her brother was indeed guilty. As swift as a coursing river, he was carried away by police.

    Degrassi: Unbelievable

The next day, Zoe walked in to school as Miles, Maya, Tristan, Drew, and Dallas waited for her. They promised to have her back and to be there for her as she began her recovery process. But before taking Miles' hand, Zoe turned around and saw Becky. She walked over to her and thanked her for coming forward, for speaking up against her own brother. And even though Becky said it wouldn't be easy, she knew she had to do what was right. In that moment, we felt our hearts swell to burst.

Zoe's story in this episode sheds light on the complicated issue of sexual assault. It can happen to all kinds of people, and all-too often blame is assigned to the victim. Situations like these aren't easy to talk about, but if you or someone you know have been affected by sexual assault, there are resources available and it is never too late to get help. Tell someone you trust. You don't have to deal with this alone. Call the Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE or go to www.rainn.org.
