DEGRASSI SPOILERS below if you haven't seen the new episode yet. But if you watched and need to know what songs were playing, the generous Degrassi Music Team is happy to share the info and the stories behind how the songs got there!

Which songs were on Degrassi?

"Run, Wild by Dead Letter Chorus
From the scene where the girls plan Anya's 18th birthday party. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
" This scene went through a few songs, until we felt right with this one. It travels perfectly in the background of this scene, not too much energy but definitely enough. We love Dead Letter Chorus, the Australian band that melted our hearts when they played the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto with Two Hours Traffic."

"People In The Hole by Catherine Feeny
From when Anya gets her bad news. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
" Catherine Feeny is an amazing songwriter -- and it shows. These poetic lyrics vibe so well with Anya's inner turmoil. We've been trying different things with music, going from scene to scene, and this worked out perfectly."

"This Was Not My Best Day Ever by Acres of Lions
From the scene where KC gets a job at Little Miss Steak's.
" An amazing west coast Canadian indie band, we also saw these guys perform some unrecorded material -- and once it is recorded, we will try to place them again. In the meantime, this song off their recorded album was so peaceful in its simplicity that it helped guide KC on the right path -- instead of feeling sorry for yourself, get up and do something about it!"

"Take You Home by Final Thought
From Anya's birthday. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
" A great example of a song that was in the character's world, as source from Anya's party, that turns into a Feature for us listeners. The lyrics are pounding and we all feel what Anya feels: desperation, loneliness and confusion. After all, it's your party and you can cry if you want to!"

"Girls Like You by The Naked & Famous
From when Anya kisses Owen... etc. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
" We loved The Naked & Famous so much that we decided to bring them back for another use, creating a sort of "book-end" to these two episodes, beginning with a Naked & Famous song, and ending with a Naked & Famous song. This song tells Anya's tale, and the lyrics "don't you know people who write songs like girls like you" hit a home-run in this moment. Although we're pretty sure Owen doesn't write songs... does that mean he doesn't really like her? You decide."
