SLiDE Wrap-Up: Episode 6

Let's talk about the pregnancy test, the tick, and everything else that happened in Episode 6 of SLiDE. If you haven't seen the episode, watch it before you read any further.

Why would a girl carry a positive pregnancy test around in her bag? Oh, right, because she's on a dramatic TV show, and if her bag spills out in front of her friends, it'll stir up all sorts of trouble.

During most of this episode, I felt like Scarlett was acting selfish and manipulative -- but I just remembered that the only reason she pretended the test was hers in the first place was because she'd never seen Eva look so scared. Deep down inside, Scarlett does care about other people! Of course, once she did that huuuuge favor for Eva, she found a way to make it work for her. I felt so bad for Luke when he thought she was pregnant, but I wish he had told Tammy the truth about hooking up with Scarlett right away.

If I were in Tammy's shoes in this episode, I would have freaked out even worse than she did about the Luke/Scarlett thing. I mean, she seemed angry, but... if I found out the guy I liked and one of my best friends had messed around on the couch in my house? I am shaking my head as I type this. Tammy needs a guy who won't hurt her. A nice guy, who's kind of dorky and sweet. (It sounds like I'm describing Ed, but I don't really see them together either... I want her to meet someone new.)

Ed had a rough time in this episode, too. As if it wasn't bad enough that he tried to fight an old man for the bathroom on the ferry (and LOST!), he got a tick bite in the worst possible place. This episode made me oh-so-glad that I'm not a guy -- especially at the very end, with that gross sound effect as the doctor pulled off the tick. Bllllararrrggggh. Poor Ed!

I can't end the post on that note, so let me also say: I loved the old woman who followed them off the ferry because she wanted to go to the music festival. The kids on this show seem pretty wild, but I get the feeling that lady might've been even wilder when she was their age. :)
