Have you played around on the Dance Academy page? Did you know you can explore Tara and Abigail's room -- and their phones?
I love being able to get to extra show-related videos and stuff (Tara's acceptance letter to the National Academy of Dance is tucked inside her notebook), but it also feels like I'm invading the characters' privacy. If you have your sound on when you go into their rooms, you'll hear hallway noises in the background. That makes it feel even more like snooping, which is cool and creepy at the same time.
Have you explored the rooms? How did you feel about it?

Did you watch this week's episodes? Things got a little sketchy for some of the dancers... and a little romantic for others. Let's discuss:
Yesterday, on "Through the Looking Glass," we got a peek into Christian's past when his friend Aaron visited and revealed that Christian had been involved in robbing a gas station (ahem, "petrol station"). Is it just me or does Aaron have a bit of a Heath Ledger thing happening?
Meanwhile, the last person I expected criminal behavior from was Abigail... but yet there she was, shoplifting from a nice old lady's store. The National Academy of Dance seems like an insanely stressful place to go to school -- especially for someone like Abigail who's so focused on perfection. I'm worried about her.
On tonight's episode, "One Perfect Day," I was reminded of how glad I am that I'm not in ballet school. Miss Raine (played by Tara Morice, who starred in the movie Strictly Ballroom) says such mean stuff to her students, I can't even handle it. I feel like her teaching style is more intimidating than helpful.
I totally understand why Abigail is struggling to cope with the pressure, but it hurt to see her taking it out on Paige. Watching Abigail's little sister give her a talk about self-esteem was heartbreaking, especially the line, "Only you hate you."
Random question: When Sammy put his old pointe shoes in the harbor for their "funeral," was I the only person thinking "That's litter!" ? I probably was, but seriously... there's enough trash in the ocean! Couldn't he have tossed them in a dumpster instead?
Of course I have to mention that moment at the end of the episode when Tara got what she's been after forever: a kiss from Ethan. I'm not a huge fan of Ethan's character (for exactly the reasons his mentor described), but I was happy for Tara in that moment. Also, that dance she did just before the kiss? Amazing.
What did you think of these episodes?

It's not usually acceptable to go into someone's room, poke through all their stuff, and read their texts. But on the Dance Academy page, that behavior is just fine. Check it out. You can peek into the characters' notebooks, laptops, and more.
Here's Christian and Sammy's room for starters:
I wish every TV show came with this much character-related awesomeness!

What did you think of Sammy's shopping trip, the rumor about Tara and "Damo," Abigail's body issues, Kat's music video, and the competition between Christian and Ethan? Let's discuss.
I felt like Wednesday's Dance Academy episode, "Growing Pains," could've been subtitled "the embarrassing moment episode" because there were soooo many embarrassing moments.
Which "Growing Pains" moment did you think was the MOST embarrassing? I'll give you a selection:
*Ethan telling Tara "You're like my other little sister." (OUCH.)
*Sammy getting a wedgie in class.
*Christian getting assigned to take Sammy shopping for a dance belt (btw, if you don't know what one is, it's basically the dance equivalent of a jockstrap. I had to google it, haha.)
*Tara's attempt to cover her giant zit with her hand as she walked around school.
*Tara getting yelled at by Miss Raine in front of her entire pointe class for wearing too much makeup.
*Abigail getting yelled at by Miss Raine in front of her entire pointe class for wearing a sweater.
*Abigail's awkward conversation with Kat about how it sucks to grow breasts if you want to be a ballerina.
*Tara getting in trouble for the rumor that she's dating Damian (even though she didn't start it).
*Tara getting yelled at by Damian for almost ruining his career.
*The moment where I had to google "dance belt." (That wasn't shown in the episode, but it happened around the same time.)
Overall, I thought the worst moments to watch were the ones that involved Tara trying way too hard to cover up the zit. I kept saying, "You're making things worse! Leave it alone!"
I secretly liked Abigail's awkward conversation with Kat, because it was so rare to see those two characters share a moment. I hope at some point the show does a flashback so we find out how their former best-friendship fell apart. (It's not hard to imagine, since they're very different people, but I want details!)
Tonight's episode, "Heartbeat," focused on Kat, Christian, and Ethan.
How did you feel about the Kat storyline? It felt somewhat possible to me that if a cute dancer uploaded a video of herself making fun of a pop song, the original performer might see it and want to meet her... but would a guy like Myles Kelly really let her change the costumes and choreography on his music video? That felt like a bit of a stretch to me. And besides, I want Kat to have a love interest who isn't a celebrity. I want her to fall for a really nice down-to-earth guy who won't hurt her.
On the other hand, the competition between Ethan and Christian felt very realistic. It was so hard to watch Christian get picked for that role, knowing how much Ethan wanted it... but it was also hard to watch Christian throw that opportunity away. Do you think Ethan will ever find out the truth? (I really hope not. I don't think he'd take it well.)
More Dance Academy is coming... tune in next Wed. and Thurs. at 7:30pm et!

I was looking through the photos that go with this week's Dance Academy episodes, and I realized that two of them have something silly in common. Usually the episode photos include lots of beautiful dancing shots but this week, I also found these:
In this picture from "Growing Pains," Sammy is holding up a dance belt, even though he reaally-eally doesn't want to buy one. (Christian looks so happy to be there, doesn't he?
In this pic from "Heartbeat" (which airs tonight at 7:30pm et), Kat reacts to the short shorts she's expected to wear to dance in a music video.
I guess life as a dancer isn't always pretty?

This week on Dance Academy, there were sooo many crushes, from Tara's girl crush on Kat's mom to Sammy's crush on you-know-who (if you watched).
Last night, during "Perfection," I was really surprised to find out that Kat's mom was Natasha Willis, a famous ballerina -- and Tara's idol. Doesn't that kind of stuff usually come up in conversation between friends? I agree with Abigail (for once!) about the situation. It must suck for Kat to know that her best friend is crushing madly on her brother and fangirling over her mom. It's like... "What about ME?"
I loved that Tara dyed her hair green, though. Yay for crazy-colored hair (even if it's just temporary).
Tonight's episode, "Crush Test Dummies," had lots of crush talk, and I could definitely relate. I loved Sammy's quote "You can't control a crush," especially knowing how hard he probably tried not to have a crush on Abigail. I felt so bad for him when Tara and Kat joked about it, without realizing it was true. I'm dreading the moment Abigail finds out... I can't imagine that she's going to take it well.
I liked the Christian / Ethan storyline, too, because I feel like we got a better sense of where they're both coming from. Ethan seems to care a lot about his dad's opinion. Christian was willing to blow off the dance performance, but he wasn't willing to let Ethan get hurt.
Hey, you know how Tara says she has that fantasy about seeing her crush just after he's been in a fight for her, and he's a little bit injured? Is that something other people feel? I'm pretty much the queen of crushes, but I have NO interest in seeing any of my crushes bleeding -- even in my daydreams.
Crush fight fantasies: Hot or not? Share your thoughts in the comments.

On tonight's Degrassi, it seemed like everyone had a lot to deal with -- and they're all dealing with it in different ways.
Fiona seems crazy stressed about her crush on Imogen, but she's trying to ignore it and hope it goes away. She seems to think that if she gets Eli and Imogen together, her own feelings will evaporate. (I have a bad feeling about this.)
When Mo teases Connor at football try-outs and makes him look bad in front of the team, Connor doesn't ignore it. He decides to get even by messing with Mo in return. (I have a bad feeling about this, too.)
And of course, we have Clare. Poor Clare. She's so stressed out about the Jake situation that she seems to be trying every possible method of dealing with it. Distracting vampire books? Check. Dinner table freak-out? Check. Running away from her problems? Check. (I have all sorts of feelings about Clare's situation, and they're not all bad, because I feel like we have lots of good drama heading our way. Bring it on, Degrassi!)
Other random comments/questions about this episode:
*Imogen claims she shipped her feelings for Eli off to the moon. Do you believe her?
*I wouldn't wish Jake's awkward birthday dinner on anyone. That scene was painful!
*Fiona + Imogen are so cute together... Do you think there's any chance things could turn romantic?
*Is it just me or did Eli look even cuter than usual in that scene with Fiona in The Dot? I'm not sure if it was the messy hair or what.
*What was your first impression of Summer? She makes me nervous for some reason.
*If I saw someone about to destroy their smart phone, I would NOT applaud. *Sigh.*
Meanwhile, on Dance Academy, Christian tries to figure out where he belongs, Sammy considers quitting dance to please his family, and Tara avoids Ethan, because she sees him as a distraction.
Tonight's episode showed the dancers working on pirouettes, and mentioned how important it is to stay focused while you're turning. I know it's a weird thing to say, but I sort of wish Fiona, Connor, and Clare could've seen this episode. I think they all need a reminder to let go of their distractions and stay focused. I think we ALL need that reminder, whenever our lives fill up with stress. Focus! (That's today's motivational speech from Lisa, inspired by Degrassi and Dance Academy. You're welcome.)
Sammy's situation on Dance Academy got me wondering... Would your parents freak out if your biggest goal was to become a dancer? Would they support you, or urge you to pursue something else?

The world is "full of sharks" -- agree or disagree? Let's discuss tonight's Degrassi and Dance Academy episodes.
Jake cleans up Katie's mess.
I want to start off by talking about the life advice Owen gives Tristan: "The world is full of sharks, Tris, and unless you adapt, you're gonna get eaten alive." Do you think that's good advice?
It got me thinking... who are the "sharks" at Degrassi? I think in a lot of ways, Katie is a shark. To get what she wants, she's willing to push herself as hard as it takes -- and push everyone else out of the way. But that "shark"-like behavior ends up hurting her, and she hurts a whole bunch of other people in the process.
Other random thoughts:
*K.C.'s poem sure was "emotive."
*I loved seeing Fiona confront Katie and Marisol.
*Katie on the scissor lift = HORRIBLE to watch, but also kind of hilarious. (Does that make me a bad person?)
*I liked the song Jenna sang at the coffee house, but I loved the performance of "Half-hearted 'Til I'm with You."
I still had Owen's advice in mind as I was watching Dance Academy, and I think he'd probably say the same thing to Tara. She and Tristan are both in their first year at a new school, and getting in way over their heads.
The dance world definitely has sharks, too. I think Abigail and Ethan see Tara as someone who's way too sensitive to succeed. Maybe in some ways, she does have to toughen up, but I don't want to see Tara (or Tristan for that matter!) change much. I like them just the way they are.
If anyone on Dance Academy needs to change, I'd say it's Abigail. When Sammy asked her to go to the beach, and she said, "I don't do beach... I don't do sand, I don't do salt, I don't do sun," it made me so sad. I think Abigail needs a relaxing day at the beach more than anyone else on this show. I don't want to see her end up like Katie.
Other random thoughts:
*I would lose my mind if I had to be tied to Abigail for 24 hours.
*I am really starting to like Kat.
*Christian is so messed up in the head (but I love him anyway).
If you have a sec (or two) to share your opinion...
Do you think Tristan needs to adapt to survive at Degrassi? What advice would you give him?
Do you think Tara needs to adapt to make it at the National Academy of Dance? What advice would you give her?
How did you react when Tara confronted Ethan? Was he out of line -- or was Tara?
