  • OMG, I love Imogen.

    Posted on 11/12/2011 by Lisa

Whee, it's Nowhere to Run Week! Tonight's Degrassi episodes include Dirt Off Your Shoulder, pt. 1, a.k.a. the episode where Imogen throws herself across the room and into our hearts. This girl makes quite a first impression, doesn't she?

Watch the scene where she shoves tampons up her nose, right now:

See that full ep on TeenNick tonight (it's on at 10:30 pm et). In the meantime, OMG your heart out with this playlist of OMG Moments!

You all had a LOT to say about Imogen when she first showed up at Degrassi. Here are a few of the comments she got back then:

"I think that imogen is creepy and crazy and needs to get her own life instead of creeping up on other peoples lives..." - maRsHmeLLoW
"She's freakin crazy but i like that in a sort of strange way." - susu182
"I kind of like her character... as long as she stays away from Eli. She's making him forget that he ever loved Clare and she's a bad influence on him." - justaperson_8

How are you feeling about her now?

  • Pictures from Degrassi: Nowhere to Run!

    Posted on 11/11/2011 by Lisa

Sometimes for work, I have to look through lots of pictures and pick out the cutest ones.

I found some VERY cute pictures of Aislinn Paul (Clare), Luke Bilyk (Drew), Alicia Josipovic (Bianca) and Munro Chambers (Eli) on the set of Nowhere to Run. Here they are, nice and big.

Degrassi: Nowhere to Run. Clare at the cabin.
If Clare's mom marries the cabin's owner, does that mean Clare and the cabin can't date?

Degrassi: Nowhere to Run. Drew at the cabin.
Drew looks happy to be at the cabin... at least while it's light out.

Degrassi: Nowhere to Run. Bianca at the cabin.
If I had a cabin, I would totally let Bianca visit. (I bet she could protect me from the bears.)

Degrassi: Nowhere to Run. Eli at the cabin.
When you're in the country, it's important to always have a farm animal on your shirt. Right, Eli?

See all that cuteness in action next Friday! Degrassi: Nowhere to Run is coming to TeenNick, Friday, Nov. 18 at 9pm et.

  • Eli's Locker Roll

    Posted on 09/30/2011 by The-Gaby

A lot of you commented on my last post about Eli's already-classic locker roll. I did some digging and "supplize"!

Sometimes, a locker roll is all you need to show a friend you care.

  • Degrassi OMG Moments: The B-Sides

    Posted on 09/21/2011 by The-Gaby

This season has been quite the emotional roller-coaster ride. There were heart-breaks. There were hook ups. There were super-scary-creepy-Vince moments. And then there were those fleeting random moments that add to the Degrassi-ness of it all. This is what I'm talking about...

    "Supplize!"

Probably one of the most emotional moments of the summer... and K.C. was a total jerk at the time, but when he walked into his own mess with that one-liner, I couldn't help but want that in my vocabulary as soon as possible.

    Mr. Tuxedo Pants

    Fiona: "What's that?"
    Charlie: "Mr. Tuxedo Pants."

Probably the coolest cat name ever! I'm totally an animal person, so when I saw Mr. Tuxedo Pants, it made me want my own Mr. Tuxedo Pants...maybe even a Mrs. Tuxedo Pants so they can have play dates.

    More bread?

    Let's break this down.

It's the season finale, we're at prom, and we've got Drew sitting between Bianca and Katie - nothing can be more awkward and intense, right? Wrong. Eli swoops in with unprecedented serving abilities and exclaims, "More breeead?"

Props to Eli for making this a true Golds-worthy moment.

What were your favorite Degrassi bits from this season?

  • AAAGH LET'S PROCESS THE FINALE.

    Posted on 09/01/2011 by Mary

SPOILERS FOR THE LATENIKS. DON'T READ UNTIL YOU'VE DONE YOUR DEGRASSI DUTY AND WATHCHED THE FINALE. NO SERIOUSLY. GO AWAY.

    SO! That happened!

    Uhhhh, where to begin?

    1) How much did it hurt your heart to hear Adam crying out in pain like that? How are you holding up? Let's process our emotions together.

    2) Riley and Zane? Totally getting back together in college. Amiright?

    3) Bianca? With the Drew and the phone and the shaking? OmGGGG. That was one for the ages. Alicia can act her li'l BUTT off.

    4) I'm just gonna come out and say it. What do you think the future prognosis is for Drew and Katie vs. Drew and Bianca?

    5) I'm just gonna come out and say it again. E-Clare? Not done yet? Tender moment? Which Eli didn't even mess up his handling of? Sparkles?

    6) Not to mention uh, I don't know if you happened to see this teaser for what's coming this fall but uh..........

    UHHHHH...................

  • That one time Jake fed Eli a pear.

    Posted on 09/01/2011 by Mary

So, in this video, Munro Chambers tells us all about his real-life Now or Never moment -- a moment that decided whether or not we would ever see him on Degrassi! -- and then Justin Kelly feeds him a pear.

You should probably definitely watch it.

And don't forget! After tonight's Degrassi: Now or Never finale, you only have a few days to catch up on all of the full episodes in HD right here. Because after Labor Day (which, by the way, will also be a 9a to midnight et Degrassi: Now or Never marathon), the full archive comes down.

So do your eye stretches, get settled, and hit play.

  • Who's crying already?

    Posted on 08/29/2011 by Lisa

*Raises hand* Things are about to get spoilery, so don't read any further unless you've seen "Take a Bow, pt. 1."

    Eli and Fiona.
    Eli and Fiona, locker leaners.

It reeeally sucks for Fiona that her closest friends are graduating and that her ex (whom she still maybe-kinda-sorta likes) is seeing someone else. I bet it also feels pretty terrible to buy your ex's painting and then realize a few minutes later that you're going to be sad every time you look at it.

I cried when Fiona relapsed and called herself "unlovable." She looked so sad and hopeless sitting on the balcony. Someone needs to invent a huggable TV, because I keep wanting to hug mine while I'm watching Degrassi.

I have to say though... Fiona ISN'T unlovable. She's just sad. She's the kind of sad where you convince yourself that you're unlovable, which might be the worst kind of sad, because you feel like you can't even call your friends -- because you're sure they're not really your friends, because you're unlovable. I hate-hate-hate that downward spiral of sadness. I hate seeing Fiona that sad. I hate the thought of *anyone* feeling that sad.

Fiona might feel unlovable, but in reality, she's just so sad that she's not thinking clearly. I wish she had picked up the phone when Holly J called. Or I wish she had called Eli (he's been through so much lately, he definitely wouldn't judge her). She could've called her mom, or Declan, or her therapist. I just wish she'd given someone -- anyone -- a chance to be there for her.

Think Fiona's week will improve? Or will prom and graduation just bring out more sadness? I'm almost afraid to find out.

  • When You Hate Your Girlfriend's Bestie.

    Posted on 08/25/2011 by Mary

SPOILERS BELOW! Watch "Don't Panic, pt. 2" before reading.

OK. I have two things I want to touch on from tonight's Degrassi episode.

#1: This face. Drew making this face when Katie picks her "best friend" Marisol to be her V.P.:

Degrassi's Drew is sooo excited to spend lots and lots of quality time with Katie's bestest buddy Marisol!
Drew is sooo excited to spend lots and lots of quality time with Katie's bestest buddy Marisol!

Poor Drew. Can't blame him for not wanting to have much to do with Marisol. Do you think Katie and Marisol's friendship should be over at this point? Or do you and your best friends work through really bad fights all the time?

#2: Eli! Get out of the sweat lodge! I mean, I appreciate his enthusiasm for "doing the right thing" for Cake but OMG, a little privacy while they work through their issues, maybe? Him injecting himself into their relationship like that did not feel 100% healthy to me, even though I know he's at least given up on the notion of getting Clare back. Your thoughts?

  • Closure for E-Clare?

    Posted on 08/18/2011 by Mary

SPOILERSSSSSSSS BENEATH. LOOK OUT. Watch "Extraordinary Machine, pt. 2" before reading.

The vast majority of people in our 'Does Eli have a shot?' Facebook poll yesterday said that while Clare isn't 100% over her feelings for Eli, she's definitely done dating him. And based on tonight's ep (and on E!'s interview with Aislinn Paul), that sounds about right to me.

I'm curious what the hardcore "no retreat, no surrender!" E-Clare shippers out there are feeling after this episode. Those final moments -- Clare putting a stamp of finality on things ("I'm just glad... he and I can go our separate ways."), followed by Clare making the following face:

Clare contemplates going separate ways from Eli on Degrassi
Eli and Clare can "go their separate ways" now. What would you call this emotion? Uncertainty? Peace? Regret? Wist?

... followed by Eli walking out of Degrassi feeling like he now finally has a shot at getting his life back under control, while Clare watches silently:

Degrassi's Eli, finally ready to move on
Eli, finally ready to move on. What's Clare feeling here?

Holy poignancy! Did any of the hardcore E-Clare fans get any sense of closure out of tonight's ep? Let us know in the comments...

Oh, and speaking of poignant. Oh my God. Jenna and KC watching Tyson get carried out of their lives? That was the worst. I know I wasn't the only one doing the ugly cry watching that scene. And Jenna just looked numb. I'm sure she has yet to really fully process her emotions about it, even if she feels sure they made the right decision. (Makes you think about what Holly J's birth mom went through when she gave her up -- wasn't Holly J eleven months old, too?)

What's crazy is: that scene destroyed me, and yet it can't even hold a candle to the true level of sadness that moment would rise to in real life.

It's especially hard because they had no happy options left. Raise Tyson, constantly struggling... to complete high school (if Jenna could ever really make it back at all), to make enough money to live on, to find any time to take care of their own needs (such as for instance, "having any fun")? Or give up Tyson, and break their own hearts to tiny, sad, little pieces in the process.

The only happy options they ever had existed before they ever got pregnant. They could have held off on sex, or they could have used protection every single time.

Jenna and KC cry after saying goodbye to their baby, Tyson.
Jenna and KC bawl after saying goodbye to Tyson

  • Stressy Times for Holly J!

    Posted on 08/09/2011 by Mary

Yikes. The amount that Holly J is going through in the span of a couple days is stressing me out -- and I'm just sitting there with my dog and a bowl of pistachios watching! Can't imagine what it would be like for a real-life HJ.

Holly J, stressing the hell out on Degrassi
Holly J, stressing the hell out. Justifiably.

It was so crazy seeing her birth mom tonight... but even crazier thinking about her trying to digest 1) a potentially fatal diagnosis 2) a completely earth-shattering revelation and 3) a supersuper awkward meeting with the stranger you LIVED IN for nine months, all in the course of a week!

I was personally kind of shocked that her parents wanted to wait until she was 18 to tell her... that seems a lot older than my real-life adopted friends were when they found out. If you were adopted or have a friend who was, when did your/their parents reveal it?

Anyway, what do you think of Holly J's birth mom... and her $20,000 request?

I hope that's not what stands between HJ and life because we need her to graduate and change the world! Even if @degrassitextfam thinks she should get held back to hang out with Fiona. Which would undoubtedly be more fun for us, but we must be strong and noble and selfless -- we must think of Holly J and what's best for her.

PS: Can't say I'm Imogen's biggest fan in terms of her influence on Eli but, just on a sisterfriend level: that "We're not together" scene? OUCH! What happened to whisper-whisper-tee-hee-hee on the bench, Eli? The signals! They are mixed at best!
