  • Hey, remember Queen Bees?

    Posted on 11/23/2011 by Lisa

A few years back, when TeenNick was still called The N, and I was still called The-Lisa, we aired a life-changingly good reality show called Queen Bees. It's about seven mean girls living in a house together as they compete to see which of them can change the most.

I don't like reality TV, but I loved Queen Bees, and I'm so excited for the chance to watch it again. If you missed it the first time around, here's a peek at what's coming:

We'll be showing Queen Bees every weeknight at 9pm et, starting on Monday.

  • THE HALO EFFECT: Thanks for your help.

    Posted on 11/09/2011 by Lisa

You know that HALO Effect banner you've seen across the top of the site lately? On behalf of all the online HALOers who viewed and shared HALO Awards posts, quizzes, and videos during the past few weeks, TeenNick gave $15,000 in donations to! Thank you for helping us make that happen. is a website where teachers post requests for supplies they want to use in their classrooms (books, art supplies, computers, science lab equipment... anything), and everyone who redeemed their points during the HALO Effect promotion earned a $5 donation to the classroom of their choice.

Visit the HALO Awards page to watch the 2011 TeenNick HALO Awards online, and learn more about how you can help and lead others in your community.

  • Have you taken the Degrassi character quiz lately?

    Posted on 09/13/2011 by Lisa

If not, it's worth a click -- I just updated it with a bunch of new characters.

I just took the quiz to make sure it's working right, and I got Imogen.
    Which Degrassi Character Are You?

I was like "Really? I'm Imogen?" and then I thought about it:

*We both have crazy hair (she's always trying new hair styles; my hair is bright pink).
*A lot of people at Degrassi think Imogen's kind of freaky. I suspect a few people in my life feel the same way about me.
*We're both attracted to creative people.
*I'm not nearly as dramatic as Imogen is, but I do like her style. For example, I'd wear the dress she has on in this pic:

Eli, Clare, Imogen and Jake want you to take the Degrassi character quiz.

So... Which Degrassi Character Are You? Does your quiz result fit your personality?

  • The-Mary's Last Blog.

    Posted on 09/09/2011 by Mary

I know I've made some jokes over the years on April Fool's Day about getting fired for embezzling creds, but this time, it's September, and I'm serious... I got fired for embezzling creds. Which I really thought no one would care about since we don't even have creds anymore, but I guess I was wrong.

Psych, I'm leaving for a job opportunity I just couldn't pass up. I've spent almost ten years here -- like I said to the Degrassi Experience girls last week, I seriously remember writing radio ads for the first season of Degrassi (tagline: "If your life were a TV show, this would be it"). A lot of the users I started out talking to on when they were in middle school are grown-ass, card-carrying adults now, so that's probably a good sign that it's time for me to move on.

And even though I'm beyond excited about my new job, I just have to say that I've enjoyed working here more than you can possibly imagine. Not because I got to meet famous Degrassians, but because I got to "meet" you. I hope you understand that I'm not just saying that... the users of this site are the reason this job has ruled. You've been hilarious, and insightful, and creative, and you've had damn good taste. And you've had huge, fabulous, meaty hearts.

OK. Crying, time to stop writing.

    See you guys around.

PS: Here's some pics from my archive. Enjoy.

And long live this girl, forever. I wish I remembered her name.

  • Songs from Degrassi: "Dead & Gone, pt. 2"

    Posted on 09/01/2011 by Ryanmcl

DEGRASSI SPOILERS below if you haven't seen the new episode yet. But if you watched and need to know what songs were playing, the generous Degrassi Music Team is happy to share the info and the stories behind how the songs got there!

    TeenNick's Degrassi

    "Can't Breathe" by Fefe Dobson
Prom slow dance . Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
"Stefan Brogren, the director for this episode, was heavily involved in the music selections for the prom. We sent him this song when he was looking for a tune for the dance later on, and he said it would be perfect for the slow dance. Lo and behold, the graduates danced their last slow with Fefe Dobson, a perfect meld of sad, glad, and looking forward to moving on."

"Not In Love" by Crystal Casltes ft. Robert Smith
Prom dance, Vince shows up. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
"This song was Stefan Brogren's choice, an homage to original version by Platinum Blonde, recorded in 1985. Crystal Castles and Robert Smith of The Cure re-recorded this version flawlessly and captured the essence of our decade, the essence that translated perfectly into the ending of one of the most memorable Degrassi crews ever."

    "Always" by Neverending White Lights
Everything is made right. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
"Another of Stefan Brogren's top-choice bands, we were thrilled to find a spot for a NWL song in Degrassi. This is a special moment, where we realize everything is going to be fine, but also that new troubles are just around the corner with Katie, Drew and Bianca, who knows what'll happen next."

"Young Blood" by The Naked & Famous
End of episode, Sav says goodbye to Degrassi. Check the Degrassi page for a sample.
"The bookend of Degrassi: Now or Never, The Naked & Famous acted almost thematically through the season, and so it only felt right to end the summer with the song that began the school year. The Naked & Famous are so thrilled with the fan reaction that they were very happy to let us have this song again, and we're incredibly grateful to have worked with such a great band. Notice the lyrics as Sav sees the cement, and when he walks away afterwards."
