I can't think of a better way to spend a Girls' Night than watching Beyoncé OWN the stage Live in Las Vegas.
Is it even physically possible to watch her perform the Single Ladies choreography without getting out of your chair and puttin' a little swerve in it? Check out this video of the whole number (not just a tease!):
Lord. I know Beyoncé is probably richer than three kings and a tycoon by now, but looking at her pull this out at the END of a long, eye-popping show... I'm thinking, that woman has got to be the hardest working person in show business, and she deserves every penny. And you definitely have to see the whole show tonight... she will blow your mind.
How much of the Single Ladies' dance can you do? I almost have the marching/head popping thingy down, and I can do some of the put-it-on-the-floor hip grinds if I've had a nutritious breakfast.

You have to wait until July 18th to see the new episodes, but you can watch the new intro RIGHT NOW. The new theme song was recorded by singer-songwriter Alexz Johnson, and it's pretty much amazing:
Alexz is in NYC this week, but she had a time for a quick chat with me. After I fangirled out for a minute about being on Skype with Alexz Johnson, we got down to business:
I just watched the new Degrassi opening, and I love it! How did that come about?
It came up very naturally; it wasn't planned. I was sent the track, and they said "Can you do anything with this?" Demo Castellon was producing it, and he remixed my indie Voodoo album, and so I think I was just in the right place. They asked if I'd put a vocal on it, and then they liked it the best.
The latest promo for Degrassi: Now or Never is really intense, and I know some of the fans are worried about what's going to happen to their favorite characters -- but when I listen to your version of the theme song, I'm like, "They will make it through! I believe everyone will get through all this drama somehow."
That's so funny you say that, because that's what the feeling behind it was. I've been through my own hell on the career and music end, when it comes to major labels, and my own ups and downs, feeling like "Can you do it anymore?" I really pulled from my own experiences as I sang it, and it's like... "Screw it! You can do anything!" I wanted people to feel that when they heard the vocal. I really wanted it to be strong and powerful.
So we know Degrassi's going to have a crazy-intense summer. What about you? What do you have planned?
I'm working. I just released an album called Voodoo: Reloaded, which is really exciting. When I get back to Toronto, I play The Drake on the 27th, go to Nashville to do some songwriting, and then I'm back in Toronto to do a music video for "Look at Those Eyes," which is my next single. I'm expanding my reach to the States this summer. Being located in Canada can sometimes be difficult, but I'm hoping to do a U.S. tour and either open for someone or be a co-headliner.
I'm also working on my next record, and I have maybe 40 songs that are done. I have some songs with Bruno Mars, Mike Elizondo, and Toby Gad... some pretty strong writers, so I'm excited. I'm excited to put them all together and see where my head is at, and the kind of record I want to make. Being indie and being Canadian, I'm trying to really expand my reach. It's so exciting to be doing the Degrassi theme. I'm just finding a way to get my music out to people.
I know a lot of TeenNick fans were excited to see you trending on Twitter a few months back. What was that like?
It was crazy! I have some pretty awesomely loyal fans. I just did an online show yesterday, and it was really cool. I'm trying to find innovative ways to reach my fanbase, which is all over the world -- but being on an indie label, I can't just pack up my band and fly us to Europe to do a tour. I'm trying to find a way to do it all, but sticking true to my sound.
I love that you can perform live shows online, and that we can talk on Skype and see each other, even though we're a country apart. It seems like a cool time to be an indie artist. Yay, the Internet!
I have some friends who are filmographers, so I've also been making a lot of videos and putting them online, just hanging out and singing songs. It's one of those things where like... you come to terms with the fact that you don't know if you're going to make a living. You don't know how things are going to unfold, but you do it because you love it, and there's nothing else you can do. I'm at a point in my life where there is no alternative. I'm just going to keep doing music. I'm not as hard on myself as I used to be, and the last couple years have just been so much fun and creative. It's been great.
Alexz, thanks so much for talking to me. I can't wait for the fans to see the new open!
I'm so excited. This really happened out of nowhere and I'm so excited to be a part of it.
So... what do you think of the new open?

Hey kids! Did you know that once you get to college, banks give you FREE MONEY? It's true! I saw it on Undeclared! (Processing fees not included; finance charges may apply; please call to verify eligibility.)
Ah, the freshman year credit card. So much freedom... for about a month, until you hit your credit limit, and suddenly you have no more spending money because you have to pay your credit card bill... and then they raise your limit! And you have freedom again! Until two years later when you suddenly look at your bill and realize you owe $6000 and it's costing you $100 a month in finance charges and it's going to take you 12 years to pay it off if you only pay the minimum which is all you can afford and you can't even remember what you bought with that $6000 because you don't even feel like you own anything nice and you suspect it was pretty much just $6000 worth of tacos because that one taco place took credit cards.
Damn you, taco place! Damn you and your delicious credit tacos!

You might like the "Which Buffy the Vampire Slayer Character Are You?" quiz. It says I'm Xander, which I didn't expect -- though I should've, since I wrote the quiz.
Thinking of myself as Xander cracks me up because I'm about to go swimming in a pink bikini (and I'm NOT picturing Xander in one! I REFUSE to see that mental image.) Buuut now that I think about it, Xander does join the swim team in the "Go Fish" episode, which we'll be showing on TeenNick, Thursday at 10pm. Maybe we have more in common than I thought?
Take the quiz, and let me know who you get. In the meantime, I'll be swimming and trying really hard not to picture Xander in a pink bikini.

Every year, thousands of recently graduated high school seniors face the same question: Should we break up before we head off to college?
Eric on Undeclared is perhaps the most vivid (and funny) example of why the answer tends to be yes:
True, not every boyfriend is as psychotically clingy as Eric and his "dreaming of you" pillow cases... but then again, I'm sure many boyfriends and girlfriends have surprised themselves with how psychotically clingy they sounded when trying to cope with hundreds of miles of distance, the specter of a thumping college hook-up scene, and their fear of the unknown.
It's never all that popular to say so, because it's hard to hear for some couples, but a lot of colleges even go so far as to tell all their freshmen during orientation: just break up.
The reasons why? Well, basically because the likely scenarios are: one of you cheats and feels horrible about it and takes way too long to admit it because it's so easy to hide it from so far away; you're in totally different surroundings and grow apart anyway; or you're so chained to your long-distance relationship that you don't experience all that college has to offer.
We all know the odds are against anyone ending up with their high school bf/gf long term... but what we don't often hear is that: many of those who DID end up with their high school sweetheart took a break at some point and saw other people and figured out that they really were right for each other. AND many of those who never took that break from their high school sweetheart end up having a crisis at some point in their marriage over the fact that they've never really been apart and don't know what else is out there. Even if they're right for each other... they just don't know for sure because they've never tested it.
Sermon over... I mostly just think Eric is hilarious. And I also think it's veddy interesting that Jason Segal seems to play variations on this lovesick boyfriend character a lot.

Amazing Freaks and Geeks episode on tonight... the one where Sam and his friends switch out the keg at Lindsay's party with a non-alcoholic one, so that the freaks don't trash the Weir's house.
Reason one that this episode rules: Haverchuck.
Reason two: Nick and Millie's unexpected Doobie Brothers duet -- followed by a classic Early Seth Rogen moment. (Click to watch the clip.
And reason three: the school assembly about designated drivers. You'll have to watch the episode for that one.
God I love this show.
