Before he was Drake, he was Degrassi's Jimmy. And right after he put the finishing touches on the Comeback Season mixtape, he gave us one of his trademark super-candid interviews about... everything. Uh, his days of wearing Lady Speed Stick, why he's not interested in a "yes man", and the REAL reason he never answers his phone.
Aubs, we miss you to death, and we remain prouder than peacocks of your ongoing world domination. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

I love re-listening to this old podcast interview with Adamo because he talks about what good roommates he and Lauren Collins (Paige) would make, and here in the future we happen to know that they ended up living together for a long time. Maybe they still do? I'll tweet them and ask.
Also there are too many good pics of Adamo; I kind of went overboard. Sorrry!

Today, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) announced the nominees for the 2011 GLAAD Media Awards, which recognize and honor media for outstanding images of the LGBT community. Degrassi is nominated in the "Outstanding Drama Series" category, and it's up against Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, and True Blood. Here's the full list of this year's nominations.
This is Degrassi's third GLAAD Media Award nomination. Congratulations to everyone involved in the show!

Remember when we called up Shenae Grimes and asked her about the scene where Peter grabs her buttock? If not, you're in for a treat.
Those episodes will be re-airing this Saturday as the Degrassi Every Episode Ever marathon continues!

Sometimes I forget how evil Jay was when he first showed up on Degrassi, but Mike Lobel (who played him) has never been evil ever. If you've ever wondered what it's like to hop on the phone with him and have a lickle chit chat, this podcast call we did with him back in the day is pretty indicative:
More classic podcast interviews coming all week... check back!

While Every Degrassi Ever keeps dominating your weekends, we dug into our Classic Degrassi Goodies barrel and pulled out... golden oldie podcast interviews! Back in the day, we'd call Degrassi stars like Lauren Collins up, and she'd tell us stories about blackouts at insane promo shoots. Like so:
This is the first of five classic podcast interviews we'll be posting all week; keep checking back! (Sorry they're in video format, long story... but I chucked up a bunch of gorgeous Paige pics to make up for the static "video.")

More Every Degrassi Ever time suckage starts tomorrow at noon. Get your exercise tonight 'cause you've got some hardcore TV-watching to do tomorrow.
Today, we have one last Degrassi Mini Mania playlist, including the three-part "Searching for Sinder3lla" -- it's the back story of how Declan fell for Holly J. I had completely forgotten that Sav, in a way, helped get them together.
Plus "What if Paige Were Liberty and Liberty Were Paige", Anya's crystal ball-fueled slumber party ("Forgetting Sav Bhandari") and Bruce the Moose's gossipy fandom of Janie and the Studs ("Good Times"). Click to watch Degrassi Mini Mania Part 5.

Last night, @GwenElaine posted on Twitter: "Holy jumping beans i just wrote the longest sentence on how every Degrassi character is connected. holy chiz everyone from season 1-10!:D :D" She gave us permission to share it here.
She posted this as a series of tweets, but it's all one big sentence. I love that it only mentions each character once.
"Anya dated Sav who's family with Alli who dated Drew who's friends with KC who impregnated Jenna who used to be friends with Clare who's...
...Darcy's little sister who dated Peter who was in a band with Spinner who's little sister Kendra dated Toby who's JT's best friend who's..
..friend's with Danny who's Liberty's little brother who dated Damian who dated Manny who went to college with Kelly who dated Emma who.....
..hooked up with Jay while he was dating Alex who dated Paige who lives with Marco and Ellie who liked Craig who was engaged to Ashley who..
..dated Jimmy who dated Hazel who's friend's with Terri who dated Rick who was killed by Sean who disappeared like Blue who dated Holly J...
..who dated Declan, Fiona's twin brother who likes Adam who liked Bianca who went to a Dead Hand concert with Eli who fought with Fitz who..
..is friends with Owen who harrassed Riley because he's dating Zane who was in the bacholor auction with Wesley who's friends with Connor...
...and Dave who's Chantay's cousin who's friends Leia who used to be friends with Mia who had a baby with Lucas, who's Jane's brother....
... who was friends with Johnny and Bruce who bullied people the way Derek was bullied by that teacher."
The next time someone asks me what Degrassi's about, I'm going to say all that. Yay for run-on sentences (at least when they're about Degrassi).
Thanks, @GwenElaine! If you're on Twitter, follow this girl... she seems awesome.

We're over the Wednesday hump and careening toward another full weekend of Degrassi: Every Episode Ever marathon! And in our classic Degrassi minis bucket today, we have all 6 installments of the "Curse of Degrassi" minis -- together they add up to a whole "secret episode" (when Rick comes back to haunt a Degrassi dance -- through Holly J's body).
Plus a peek at a DCS reunion of the future, a roomies-only chat between Paige and Ellie, a wedded future for Craig and Ashley, and this golden oldie gem: "Pirates of the Cafeteribbean". (Sometimes known as, "What If... No One at Degrassi Had Access to Toothpaste?")

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti. A year later, close to a million people are still homeless, mostly living in makeshift tents; the rebuilding effort is extraordinarily slow and suffering is still tremendous. Here's a NY Times article about the general outlook in Haiti today.
We're remembering that a year ago today, HALO Award honoree Herold got the most terrifying news of his life -- then sprung into action and made an immeasurable difference in the lives of strangers.
One of the organizations that he gave part of his HALO Award money to is Fireside International's Haiti Relief efforts. Here's an interview they did with him, and here's information on an example of the work they're doing -- building The Learning Village, a safe space with food, shelter, medical attention, and education for kids who didn't just suffer from the earthquake itself, but who were victimized by an American man who was supposed to be helping them.
In honor of our new buddy Herold, I think today's a good day to take some time out to think about what we're grateful for, and then try to give others something to be grateful for, too.
