NOTE: We just wanted to point out that we edited this South of Nowhere announcement, because some people thought that it meant that Tom Lynch was the one who decided to end South of Nowhere, and we are really sorry about that.
I think a lot of you guys have heard about this already, but I wanted to join in the chorus and maybe give you some of the info you don't yet have:
South of Nowhere's final season will premiere on April 11.
I know.
Believe me, we all know. I don't think it's like, a big secret that we at the N luh-huh-hove South of Nowhere. We have ridden that roller coaster right there next to you since 2005. We've laughed, we've cried, we've shifted uncomfortably in our seats when our parents walked into the room (well, ok, we've just heard about that last one I guess). South of Nowhere occupies a big fat chunk of all of our hearts. It got under our skin and we watched it get under yours.
We are extremely proud of South -- we're proud of its many awards nominations (from GLAAD, Teen Choice and PRISM). We're proud of the profound effect it has had on the lives of its viewers, and the passion with which you have followed it, discussed it, and loved it. We are so proud we were able to air this series, and proud of the episodes that will now live on, able to tell the Carlins' story -- and by extension the story of so many families -- forever. The N's decision to not produce any more episodes of the show does not come out of disrespect.
Here: Tom Lynch, the creator of South of Nowhere, the man from whose mind Spashley sprang, can probably put this a lot better than I can:
"Things change. It doesn't always seem good, but change they do. South of Nowhere has been a great journey. A show like this could not have existed ten years ago on youth oriented television or any television for that
matter. But exist it does, because things change. I have loved my experience with The N for having the courage and vision to air
South. I love the fans for allowing me to tell real stories about their lives. I love all of the producers, writers, directors, and crew who took the series into their hearts and participated in SON as more than a 'job'. I love the cast and how they dimensionalized the characters and created real people that you as fans could relate to and feel for as they reflected your own lives. I especially love Spashley. The name you gave to the two lead characters. To be able to create a show called
'Excellent,' 'groundbreaking' and 'impossible to resist' is rare. To create a show that touches the hearts and lives of a generation is a gift. Thank you for allowing me and Spashley into your hearts.
Love and Respect,
Tom Lynch
Creator / Executive Producer
South of Nowhere"
Buh.
We couldn't agree more. And that's why we plan to let the world know it when those final eight episodes air. We are going to go bonkers with the pics, videos, interviews, commentaries, podcasts, and anything else we can think of. We are going to give those last episodes of South of Nowhere the honor that they deserve.
Actually, you know what, can we get started with South's tickertape parade right NOW before I start crying uncontrollably? We want to make some special South snaggables, and we want you guys to decide what they will be. So leave a comment right down here telling us what your number one favorite moment of the show has been so far. And if you can't narrow it to one... we can relate.
We'll get through this together.
I hug you.
Luv,
The-Mary
I thought son was an excellent show that portrayed the real issues that was mainly focused on the younger generation. However, all the subject matter that son touched on really involves genrations of the past, present, & future. I felt son's actors did an awesome job showing the different joy, love, bonding, & positive growth that has taken place among many types of diversities there are in this country today. Unfortunately, the cruelty of senseless prejudices and terrors of the world we live in today. I can only imagine what the world would be like, if we all took to heart a saying I heard..." In a room full of darkness it is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us...don't let your eyes deceive you...(Janet Jackson, Rhythm Nation 1814 Album)." BTW one of my favorite scenes is when Ashley & Spencer suprised each other by saying I love you for the first time.

I'm soooo done with The N after SON goes off. It's the only thing that makes your channel worth watching.
Having fun watching your stations ratings crash.

Ok I know South of Nowhere ended or whatever. Sorry I don't watch it but anyway, I don't thnk whining about it will change anything. Maybe you could try to write a letter or e-mail the director instead of complaing and crying about it. You never know what can happen. Just hope everything works out and maybe South of Nowhere could have a new season!! ![]()
