Mandy plays Ashley Davies. She first stepped onstage in school plays at age six and focused intently on acting in high school in Orlando, with productions of Anything Goes and The Miracle Worker. After graduation, she resolved to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother, actress Rita Ray, and headed to Hollywood. Within a year, she snagged roles in shows like CSI and Malcolm in the Middle, but most people remember her as the vixen Chelsea Benson on Days Of Our Lives. Mandy plays volleyball, water polo, and kickball, and she bowls and runs track. She also writes poetry, collages, and sings (check out her track on The Soundtrack of The N). The-Mary: Hi Mandy! How've you been?
-Mandy-: i have been great, you?
The-Mary: good. just went to the dentist and got cavities filled, so awesome.
-Mandy-: omg does that hurt?
The-Mary: no no, lots of novacaine :) So, I have to ask: does anyone ever stop you on the street and go "Triple word score, herpes!!"
-Mandy-: haha no never
-Mandy-: if they did i would look at them crazy
-Mandy-: like... keep your STD's to yourself
-Mandy-: hahhaa
The-Mary: hahahahah!
The-Mary: So, when did you find out you'd suddenly have a sister this season? and how did you take it?
-Mandy-: ooo i was like... uuuuhhh ohhhh what drama are they pulling now
-Mandy-: i was freaking out about what she would look like
The-Mary: Ha, i never thought of that... that it can be kind of trouble when someone's like "Look, this girl looks JUST LIKE YOU!" and you're like "Really??"
-Mandy-: i was in the audition room with all the girls going out for Kyla with matt cohen and every time i would stand next to the girls, if they were taller than i was i would try and stand on my tippy toes lol
-Mandy-: i was praying for someone short
The-Mary: That's adorable. So you got to kind of check out the potential sisters in advance... did they give you any say in who was chosen?
-Mandy-: yes they let both matt and i say how we felt and it was mostly based on who we felt a honest connection with.
The-Mary: Awesome. What's your relationship like with your real-life sisters? (And I see on your fan sites that your twin is "nearly identical".. does that mean like the Olsens?)
-Mandy-: lol yeah we look sooo much alike
-Mandy-: when i brought her to set everyone was like "omg!!!"
-Mandy-: but my twin sister jamie and my older sister brie... uhhh they are so wonderful
-Mandy-: we just connect on unrealistic levels.
The-Mary: Were you always all tight, or did you go through phases of hating each other? i mean, you know "sibling hate", not actual Hate Hate.
-Mandy-: ooooo well my older sister was basically like our real mother growing up. if my twin sister and i ever fought, she would lock us in a room to fight it out

-Mandy-: jamie and i were never just apathetic with one another. it was always like i hate you or i love you
-Mandy-: we were either fighting, or we were singing songs and making up dance routines together
The-Mary: awww. so, given that ashley's relationship with kyla isn't an instant love affair, what kind of chemistry were you looking to have with the actress who played her?
-Mandy-: mmm one where the girl would be as much like me as possible... that way it would feel like it was my twin sister and i would know how i would deal with the real situation
-Mandy-: which is exactly what it turned out to be
The-Mary: ooh, interesting. was it ever weird sort of integrating a new person into the family unit you guys in the cast had created last season?
-Mandy-: yes!
-Mandy-: but the writers wanted drama and they brought it
-Mandy-: it flows well with the story line. she came out of nowhere but it made complete sense
The-Mary: right. so you've been off the set for a bit now, what do you miss the most when you're away from SON?
-Mandy-: the chemistry with EVERYONE. the crew, the writers, the hair and make-up people who became more like cast counselors than anything else. lol. but most of all my cast members
The-Mary: oh wow, so just like out here in the real world, you end up dishing with your hair stylist?
-Mandy-: oh yes!
The-Mary: They must know more about the production than the producers, heh
-Mandy-: im sure
-Mandy-: i just met up with some of them recently
-Mandy-: there is just such a TRUE connection on set. i know that many shows have drama and may dislike certain cast members. but not on our set. EVERYONE loves EVERYONE
The-Mary: that is SO rad.
-Mandy-: totally
The-Mary: I guess you guys are scattered around when the show actually airs though... so you don't get to watch it together do you?
The-Mary: do you have any rituals for watching (or are you one of those people who can't watch yourself on TV?)
-Mandy-: no we all come together every friday when each episode airs to ooo and aaahh and omg was that the best take they had of me?!! together
The-Mary: haha! are there snacks? Who's the best snack chef on SON?
-Mandy-: hmm our writer makes the best snacks! by far
-Mandy-: but val and i always talk about what we want to make but never have had the chance to
-Mandy-: i can make a MEAN cheese cadoodle
The-Mary: cadoodle? I don't believe I've ever sampled a cadoodle.
-Mandy-: i don't even know what that is... i just went with it. but now it makes me want one... lol
The-Mary: if it has cheese i want one.
-Mandy-: hahah you love cheese?!!!
The-Mary: omG, who doesn't?
-Mandy-: you rock because of that alone!
-Mandy-: mine is an obsession really
The-Mary: cheese fans of the world, unite and take over
-Mandy-: hahaha i have a plan and lay out already
The-Mary: and have you ever noticed that gourmet cheese shops always have the CUTEST boys working behind the counter? it's a phenomenon.
-Mandy-: hahah yes that might be why i like cheese so much lol
The-Mary: OK, one last question:

The-Mary: I'm looking at an argument on the boards about which show has more "hott gurls", SON or Degrassi. What is your stance on this very important issue?
-Mandy-: ohh lord... well i think both shows have been blessed with hotties but come on, im on south so i have to say south... i mean check them out. madison is the sexiest latin girl i think ANYONE has ever seen. spencer is the most beautiful down to earth sweetheart anyone has ever seen... everyone is in shape and has great perfect teeth and smiles.
