Val, Holly's older sister, has very high standards, and she expects Holly to live up to them. Val tries to be a good role model to Holly, but sometimes has trouble following her own rules. Although Val is a bit of a control freak, there's one thing she has trouble controlling (besides Holly) -- her own heart. Val craves stability, but she has a knack for changing her life on a whim, whether she's quitting her public relations job to run a bakery or marrying her old boss on a wild night in Atlantic City.

Random thing to like about Val: She refers to her butt as her "bottom."
