Which Bob is Right for You?

Which Bob is Right for You?

Want to hop on the bob-wagon? Good news... they can work for pretty much any face shape, with a few tweaks.

What's Your Face Shape?
Good question! To find out, pull your hair back and look in a mirror, and with lipstick or eyeliner trace the outline of your face on the mirror. Then stand back and compare it to these descriptions:

OVAL:
* About 1.5 times as long as it is wide -- the forehead is wider than the jaw.
* Like: Jessica Alba, Kiera Knightley, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce

* Ovals are the envy of the face-shape community because every single hairdo looks good on them, so don't even worry about it. Bangs, no bangs, tucked behind your ears, barrettes, wavy, straight, whatever. Enjoy it, you lucky oval.
SQUARE:
* Roughly the same width as length, with a strong jaw.
* Like: Katie Holmes, Demi Moore, Jennifer Lopez

* You can soften your angles (if you feel like it) with wispy bangs, layers, and an off-center part. Try a wavy bob that ends just above or just below the jaw line, not right at it.
ROUND:
* Like an oval but a little wider, especially around the cheekbones.
* Like: Kirsten Dunst, Kate Winslet, Christina Ricci

* A shorter-than-chin-length cut will really let your features shine. Add body to the top of the cut by cutting short top layers or styling it up. We can totally see you in a short, sleek one with pompdoured bangs.
OBLONG:
* Like an oval but with a high forehead and/or long chin.

* Like: Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashlee Simpson, Liv Tyler, Jennifer Aniston, Carrie Underwood
* Oblong faces look great in bobs that add width to your slender face shape. Try a short-to-medium length bob with fullness at the sides and an off-center part.
HEART:
* Wider at the forehead and narrower at the chin.
* Like: Reese Witherspoon, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham

* A hairstyle that's sleek at the top and full around the chin will balance out your face shape. You'd look great in a swept-forward bob that's longer at the front. Leave some length at the nape of the neck, though, or your 'do will look top-heavy.

The Many Bobs of Katie Holmes
With her strong jawline, Katie Holmes has a classic square face. She's worn -- and looked gorgeous in -- just about every kind of bob there is. Arguably, she's the one who brought back the bob single- um... stranded?

According to the textbook definition though, she should look best in a wavy bob ending above or below the jawline. That's just how she was wearing her hair in February, 2008. But you be the judge: which of her bobs is best?

    Out of it

the 3rd picture of katie looks best. Ohh and tym4change.. u can start using a defrizzant product like John Freida or u can use some shampoos like garnier frutise or tresseme. defrizzants really help since i have the same problem. u can also use dryer sheets to minimize stactic when ur styling. well i hope i helped u some lol. take care.

    Procrastinating

I have a heart-shaped face, and I would like to try a short style since I've had long all of my life, but my hair is really wavy and frizzy and no flat iron or curling iron can tame it. Any advice?

    Hopeful

I usually pin my hair up into a fake bob anytime I just want to experiment with something different. Try it!
